Maps projections

Map projection is the projection of Earth's sphere to the plane.

There are a lot of the methods of projection. The WXtoImg program supports most widespread of them. You can got the image by the different kind of projection.

It is very important to specify correct map projection. Very often wrong specification of map projection hides correct and gives incorrect information, which makes use of images hard.

Mercator

Most often used in naval maps. The lines of the longitude and latitude crosses at right angle in this projection.

Transverse Mercator

Transverse Mercator projection often used in ground maps, and this is projection which you will be use more often too. The project of map begin from central meridian, which is straight, the Equator is straight line too, all others lines of latitude and longitude – curves. The far from central meridian, the more curvature of lines. This projection used for small regions placed near both sides of central meridian, deviation of projection are insignificants and can be ingnored.
